BMW X7 iPerformance: SAV instead of SUV

To stand out in the huge mass of new SUVs at this year’s IAA, you have to think of something as a manufacturer. BMW’s X7 iPerformance is of sheer size.

BMW is showing not only the new X3 and the small X2 in Frankfurt, but also a study at the upper end of the food chain: the X7 iPerformance. In the large “SAV” (BMW speaks of a sports “Activity” Vehicle) six people sit down on three seat rows. Of these, the front four seats are designed as single seats, which offer a lot of space.

New operating concept

As is the case for a luxury study, “clear forms, warm colors and selected materials are to create a highly exclusive modern atmosphere”. More interesting is a look at the front row, which reflects the future of the BMW cockpit. Typically, the switching center is oriented in a right-handed manner. There is a 12.3-inch combined instrument with touch-multifunctional display and a new operating concept, which should replace the iDrive system and focus primarily on gesture control and touch surfaces.
At the exterior are especially the huge kidneys, which for the luxury one-part as well as from the full are milled and give the X7 an extremely oversized look. The huge 23-inch rims also fit in with this. We are driving the X7 from a unspecified plug-in hybrid.
