Peugeot 3008

Peugeot 3008 – a beauty with overweight

For a car of its class makes the powerful Peugeot 3008 quite a lot. At the wheel of the French compact SUV, you do not necessarily feel younger or more attractive.
A giant like the Peugeot 3008 demands to be moved away from everyday paths, so I went with it to the Documenta 14, which offered itself just this summer. As luck would have it, a very well-known German painter had already lodged in our hotel, whom I had met several times before on some occasions.

We went into the arms of the courtyard of the old building after supper, and there was a rather long and cheerful evening, for the painter had not liked the exhibition at all, and he could explain it very verbatim and in great detail.

When I went to the hotel parking lot the next morning, and so we are already back at the Peugeot 3008, to let the automatic tailgate lift up and stow away the luggage for the journey home, I caught myself as I did after the Painter watched. I did not want him to see me with this car, and in the end I’m looking for an SUV bitch.

A thought that gives reason for self-criticism, because basically the Peugeot 3008 is not an embarrassing car. As a test driver, you tend to be inclined to provide the driving dynamics and design of a car across all other characteristics. As a smart roadster has of course better maps than a spacious family carriage. Practical qualities such as the trunk volume are of little importance, and the price and the cost of the posture are only abstract factors in the test.

If you are thinking about buying a new car, you have to pay off the rent, installments for the TV, the piano lessons for the next generation, and all the other expenses that make up for it endless run in a hamster wheel.

Apart from the acquisition of a property, the limits of one’s own financial possibilities are nowhere more clearly visible than in the case of cars. Under these circumstances, the Peugeot 3008 offers a lot of car for a reasonable price (from 23,250 euros), and it also makes much more than other cars of its class, such as the Nissan Qashqai, the Toyota RAV4 or the Renault Kadjar.

The Peugeot 3008 received a Red Dot Award in April for its formal qualities, its high functionality and its good environmental compatibility, an award which has been awarded by the Design Center North Rhine-Westphalia since 1955 and is internationally recognized.

What does he want to be? SUV or Van?

One can assume that the jury was particularly impressed by the design of the interior – for example, from the toggle switches on the center console, which both visually and haptically form a pleasant contrast to the smooth surface of the touch screen – and the giant sliding glass roof similar proportions as the dome over the Reichstag building seems to have.

The roundness of the front part, on the other hand, reminds the face of a former riot and still quite attractive man, who has a little fat because he throws too many necksteaks on the grill and otherwise spends too much time on the sofa. Overall, the drawing of the new Peugeot 3008 looks much more determined and consistent than his predecessor, who could not really decide whether he wanted to be an SUV or a van.

It is essential to emphasize the economy of the two-phase motor. After a 400 kilometer trip to Kassel, I had to spend less than 25 euros to complete the tank, which corresponds to a consumption of less than six liters of diesel per 100 kilometers. For a family with high space requirements and certain aesthetic requirements, there would be a number of reasons for the purchase of a Peugeot 3008.

And the driving dynamics? Oh well. Even a ride with the 180 bhp top model, for which you have to spend at least no more manageable 40.050 euro, is about as exciting as the previous evening program on ZDF.

In conjunction with the numerous assistance systems, which sometimes interfere with the driving experience (the tracking assistant is particularly noticeable), this can quickly make you feel 20 years older once you set the Peugeot 3008 in motion Has.
